This tour leaves Port Zante, The St. Kitts Marriott or any other place agreed upon. It takes you through the very historic town of Basseterre. During this part of the excursion, you will see our old churches, the Berkley Memorial (The Circus), The Indepenedence Square and The War Memorial. Such elements help to paint a picture of the daily lives of Kittitians. While traveling in a westward direction, we will stop at the Romney Manor Sugar Plantation. It was owned by the great, great, grandfather of Thomas Jefferson - the third president of the United States. After that, the next stop is at the Brimstone Hill Fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site and is also the British Military Head Quarters of the 17th and 18th century. The Fortress took one hundred and four years to build. From there, we will travel eastwards to Basseterre and onto the F.T Williams Highway. While on this highway, we will pass the Robert Llewelyn Bradshaw International Airport, travel onto the Kim Collins Highway and into the Frigate Bay Area. Frigate Bay is the part of the island most marketed toward tourists. I refer to this area as our Beverly Hills. This area has the island's best beaches, a few resorts including the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel, the island's only golf course (18 holes) and various types of cuisine including Indian, Hawaiian, Mexican etc. Past the main area in Frigate Bay is the South East Peninsula. It overlooks Timothy Hill, The Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Our sister island, Nevis, can also be seen from this location. The island forms part of the Federation of St. Kitts - Nevis. Nevis is only two miles away. From the end of the ten mile long Peninsula road, Antigua (65 miles away) can be seen on a clear day.
